'The Last and the Thirst'

Those of you who have been connected with LHM since it began in 1994, may remember the arrival of 'First Friday Prayer Fellowship Meetings'. They came along fairly early on and were originally held in a lounge area in a local church in Lancing, England.

That particular church has been the home of LHM for many years now and being welcomed to use that space to hold those meetings has been one of many blessings given by that church.

When Covid19 hit in 2020 and lockdown rules etc. came into play, those meetings had to move to online where they have remained ever since.

The move to online opened up the virtual door for people to join from other countries so once the pandemic ended, it did not seem right to abandon those newcomers to go back to the former way that the meetings were held.

Fast forward now to the present date and there have been further significant changes and one of those is me (Pastor Steve Brunton) taking over from my father as Director/Chief Listener on 1st September 2026 after exactly a year of being Assistant Director.

I know that my father made prayer a priority in his 32 years as Director but I have sensed since I first began as Assistant Director and now even more so as Director, that it needs to increasingly become a priority but without neglecting the other areas of ministry.

I am finding creative ways to do that and one thing that I have initiated since becoming Director is for 'First Friday Prayer Fellowship' meetings to be replaced with 'Thirst Friday Prayer Fellowship' meetings.

This essentially means that we have gone from monthly meetings to weekly meetings as we thirst and hunger increasingly for Him and His Kingdom to come!

We have had the last 'First' Friday meeting and the first 'Thirst' Friday meeting (The Last and the Thirst).

I have also brought in the 'Country of the Week' and 'Continent of the Month' initiatives to help us in all of this.

My monthly thought to you is to encourage you with LHM and in your own lives, to continue to find creative ways to pray more and to help others to pray more whilst continuing your other duties that He has asked you to perform.

2 Corinthians 10: 3-4 state:

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

These verses and the verses surrounding them may not exclusively be talking about prayer but they certainly are at least in part referring to the importance of prayer and the immense power that can come when we invite The Lord into situations and even more so, when we invite Him into EVERYTHING (inviting Him to access all areas in our lives and beings).

As the days, months, years, decades or centuries get closer to His return, we must keep 'upping' our game in every way for Him with His strength through the power of The Holy Spirit, His Glorious Gospel and His Holy Bible.
